I did my bachelors (triple major) in microbiology, chemistry, and zoology from St. Joseph's college, Bangalore and M.Sc in biochemistry from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara. Apart from academics, I like to dance, sing, actively involved in sports and a foodie. I joined SinghMLab as a regular PhD student in Aug 2019

Research Interests

I have followed RNA biology since the time I had read about Prof. Tom Cech's work. Additionally, the discovery of TERT was a significant breakthrough. Reading about it inspired me to work in the same field.

During my master's thesis project at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, I studied the formation of chimeric RNA through a hypothesized slippage model of transcript

To further continue my zest for the field, I joined SinghMLab (https://singhmlab.weebly.com/people.html) at the Molecular Biophysics Unit, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore where several interesting projects in understanding protein-nucleic acid interactions are being carried out.

I am specially interested in the bacterial toxin-antitoxin (TA) systems. TA systems are genetic modules that play an important role in bacterial persistence phenotype, antibiotic resistance, and are speculated to be involved in regulation of existential processes of the cell. Many fascinating questions needs to be answered in the field. I hope to understand these systems better.
